The “Lifetime Achievement Award” was given to Sue Stevens, by Steve Awtrey, Executive Director of Christian Family Services. Sue was hired as one of the first caseworkers at CFS in 1973. Two important qualities make Sue unique. (1) She never shied away from a difficult case and (2) She never thought of herself better than any of her clients.
Darla Geiger received the “Distinguished Service Award”. Randy Schow, Executive Director of Mountain States Children’s Home presented the award to Darla who has worked as the office manager for 34 years. Randy has full confidence and trust in Darla who knows how to engage and work with all kinds of people. Tributes were also given to Darla by her family.
The “One Person Can Make a Difference Award” was given to George and Mary Pavalok by Rod Self, Executive Director of New Mexico Christian Children’s Home. The Pavoloks have served in numerous capacities at NMCCH, in their 22 years. House parents to over 100 children, foster parents to newborns, and assisting in child care. George has also served as groundskeeper and Mary worked in the commissary and clothing room.
A new award was given this year, “The Timothy Award” presented to Lacy Barton by Glenn Newberry CEO of Foster’s Home for Children. Lacy has served at Foster’s Home for 16 years. She began her work in the development department in a clerical position. Lacy quickly advanced in her ability to grasp development work, as well as the dynamics of Christian childcare in general. She succeeded her husband as VP of Development and has excelled in that position for 11 years
